Irie™ Magazine | Roots - Sol Tevél - Jenevieve Francisco

Jenevieve Francisco

Jenevieve is a Bay Area native who grew up inspired by the great Motown Queens like Mary Wells and Diana Ross, and making mix tapes of high energy and house music off of local radio stations like Wild 94.9. Also a talented dancer, she’s studied various folk dances with World Dance Fusion. She has studied both at home and abroad in Cuba, learning Afrocuban folk and popular dances and also with the salsa group Rueda con Ritmo.

Jenevieve met Lior through a mutual friend at San Francisco’s Carnaval in 2008. Shortly after the two met, Lior introduced everyone at a party at Jenevieve’s, with the original acoustic inception of the new album’s now title track, ‘So I Wander.’ You can also find Jenevieve playing in the Bay with the Neo-Motown group The Hitsville Soul Sisters.
