Asha D grew up in a world steeped in music, and it was in 1992 that he took the stage for the first time as a drummer. He is a founding member of the Artikal Music label and one of the most experienced backing bands: Artikal Band, with which he has accompanied many Jamaican artists (Sister Carol, Natural Black, The Heptones, Ras Shiloh, Jah Mali, Rod Taylor, Queen Omega), and “hexagonal” (Tiwony, Straika D, Lyricson, Baby G, MC Janik, Netna, Vybrate, Makajah, Kousi) including, in particular, Yaniss Odua with whom he has been playing since 2010.
He was also a member of the Marseillais Backing Band “The Handcart,” with which he accompanied legends such as The Abyssinians, Pablo Moses, The Mighty Diamonds, and Al Capone, to name a few.
Asha D has been singing and writing from a young age. His first appearance on a major project is the compilation “+ de coeur = soleil” initiated by Pierpoljak (Universal 1998). He then took part in projects such as “Comrade” (Feuj) or “The accent of truth” (Saber and Realité Anonyme). He has also performed backing vocals for several artists, including Junior Delgado and Rod Taylor.
Asha D recently released cuts like: Love Non Stop, My destiny, My savior, Gimme di Music (with Tiwony), Hallelujah, and call Jah Name (with Mark Cupidore).

As a singer, he tackles all themes but remains mainly a “Conscious” artist. Asha D is also the producer and director of the Artikal Music label, for which he produced tracks with Sizzla, Mikal Roze, The Congos, Yaniss Odua, Tiwony, Marck Cupidore, as well as many other artists.
In 2018, he launched the site www.riddiminstrumental.com, specially designed for selling Reggae Dancehall instrumentals every week enriched with a new Riddim. He also composes for other labels and different artists.
In 2021, he produced two Eps, one with Mark Cupidore from Trinidad, one with Bobby Hustle from California, and a Single with the greats U Brown and Rod Taylor from Jamaica. So it is a year marked by international connections.
His solo EP “The Pressure” was released in June 2022, and the deluxe album version Dub Showcase is also available; he entirely self-produced this project. The guest musicians and singers are Dean Fraser, Taïro, and Queen Omega.
Asha D & Artikal Band is his latest project, with the first single, “Thanks & Praises,” released on October 21, 2022.
