dUb music rises from the ruins of Babylon
‘Intricate guitar solos and beautifully crafted string arrangements’ are not what you hear when you listen to SSLy Scout – sound system dub vibration is the order of the night.
The heavy ‘steppers’ style dub ‘Babylon dayz’ is the debut release from SSly (pronounced Sly) featuring a ‘warning message’ in the form of reggae vocals from Jay Spaker, aka Double Tiger vocalist/producer/co-founder of the legendary Dub-Stuy sound system and record label out of Brooklyn, New York. Babylon Dayz will be released on 7” vinyl; on one side is a full vocal, and on the flip side is a dub version. SSLy’s debut will be released on his own record label, ‘dUb from the ruins’. It is also the debut release from the label, and the label launch will be celebrated at the same time as the vinyl release on the 27th of October, 2023, followed by the digital release on all platforms a week later.
About SSLy Scout:
SSLy Scout is a dub music artist/producer from Bristol. He is heavily influenced by the dub reggae founders, new electronic dub pioneers, and the sound system and party culture of his home city. Bristol has a deep-rooted Afro-Caribbean culture, and SSLy has been tuned in by its heavy vibration since his youth. Scheming out of his studio built in the loft of a once derelict farmhouse, his sound is crafted on an odd mixture of analog and digital gear collected over the years from the early 90s. Looking around his studio, it is more Poor-tools than Protools. SSLy obviously doesn’t want to stick to the ‘standard equipment lineup’ for his genre.
