August 6, 2022, marks the 60th anniversary of Jamaica’s independence from England. And in those 60 years, the tiny Caribbean nation has managed to influence the world by gifting us reggae music and its subgenres, including dub, ska, dancehall, and rocksteady.
In celebration of Jamaica’s Diamond Jubilee, IRIE has curated a special playlist featuring 60 songs, one song per year, that tell the story of Jamaica’s musical legacy and its cultural influences.
