Drawing inspiration from various musical styles, Subajah has crafted a distinctive sound rooted in authentic compositions brimming with emotion and soul. Influenced by Malian, Guinean, and Congolese music, alongside Caribbean genres such as Compas, Zouk, and Reggae, his music showcases a blend of versatility and profound cultural resonance.

Subajah’s love for music ignited during his early years, starting with Hip Hop in the French underground Rap scene. His exposure to Dancehall and Roots Reggae in Martinique sparked a profound interest in Reggae music. In his late teens, Subajah immersed himself in the Paris sound system scene while honing his skills in guitar and bass. Relocating to London in 2007 was pivotal as he established “The Architects Band” and further developed his musical style.

Subajah’s artistic expression is defined by his soulful voice, conscious lyrics, and spiritual essence, conveying messages of hope, love, and positivity. His repertoire features the well-received 2014 EP “Voice of Freedom,” the significant 2017 album “Architect,” and his latest release “Lion” in 2024, establishing his presence in the global Reggae community. Critics have hailed “Architect” as a groundbreaking album, placing it among the finest Reggae releases in recent years.

Subajah often takes the stage with “The Architects Band” or in acoustic setups, appearing at prestigious international festivals, such as Rototom and UK venues, alongside music icons such as Max Romeo, Aswad, and Lee Scratch Perry. In 2018, Subajah supported the exclusive UK show of the band Akae Beka, led by the legendary Vaughan Benjamin.

Subajah is working with Riddim Up on several tracks produced by the renowned Dean Fraser, with whom he collaborated during his recent visit to Jamaica. Simultaneously, he is refining a new sound for his third album, fusing Roots Reggae with West African music.
