Pauzeradio

IRIE™ | ROOTS - Pauzeradio

Pauzeradio began in 2009 as an archive for the Unique Reggae Mix Show, allowing listeners to stream any of the radio shows created since its inception. In 2012, it expanded by adding a blog section that features album reviews, press releases for new reggae albums, reggae artist biographies, and more. By 2013, due to Gav Pauze’s passion for vinyl, Pauze Radio had evolved into an online vinyl store specializing in reggae roots and dub, offering clothing, books, and other reggae-related products.

In December 2006, Gav Pauze produced his first radio show in the Midlands, the Unique Reggae Mix Show, which aired on Unique FM. This opportunity was a lifeline for him as he was dealing with depression from an accident. Positive reggae music played a significant role in his recovery, and he focused the show on positive reggae music to uplift himself and his listeners. With limited local support, he used the internet to promote the shows, connecting with music producers and artists worldwide through social media, email, MSN, and Skype. He maintains a philosophy of mutual respect when working with artists, avoiding those who are disrespectful or pushy, which sometimes influences the selection of music and artists featured on the show.

Gav Pauze believes that reggae artists should be celebrated while still alive, not only after they have passed. This belief led to the creation of tribute shows in 2011, aiming to change the trend and encourage others to honor reggae heroes while they are still with us. The idea for tribute shows originated from a conversation with an artist regularly featured in the shows, leading to a Bob Marley and Peter Tosh tribute. The positive feedback from that show encouraged the continuation of tributes for respected artists still living, celebrating their work. Artists interested in a tribute show or mixtape are encouraged to contact Gav Pauze through Facebook or phone to discuss further. The focus remains on creativity and exploring new avenues, with the belief that anything is possible.

Pauzeradio would not be possible without the following core talent that makes this fantastic reggae platform thrive.

Paul Burdass aka Fat Skeleton

Paul Burdass is a mentor of Gav Pauze and the clothing supplier for Pauzeradio’s merch. Fat Skeleton was founded in 2000 after a memorable trip to Bike Week in Daytona Beach, Florida, where the founder was captivated by the vibrant biker culture and the extensive range of biker gear not available in the UK. Recognizing a gap in the market, the founder decided to start a Cruiser Apparel and Lifestyle Accessories business from a home office in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire. Early on, Fat Skeleton showcased unique biker gear at UK bike shows, quickly discovering a strong local demand for American biker products.

Over the years, the business flourished, transitioning from knocking on suppliers’ doors to receiving regular inquiries thanks to the Internet. Despite the competition, Fat Skeleton’s commitment to customer service and passion for the biker community helped it thrive through challenging times, including the 2007 recession and the post-COVID landscape.
