Strawl & Black Lion

Curtis Arnaud aka Strawl Original is a native of the Island of Sint Eustatius also known as Statia. He started his life in the ghetto there. As a young man he felt the urge to take the mic and rock the stage. That episode finally resulted in compiling his first hit called Don’t Give up which reached the nr 3 position in Caribbean Top charts. During that episode of his life he was part of the Blackstar Liner Band playing the bass and singing the backup vocals. As such’s he performed in opening concerts for Black Uhuru, Maxi priest and Lucky Dube.

In 1999 the decision was made to go to Europe. Here he started to make music with the band Out of Many that provided great contribution and input. From there he has been working with Roadblock agency, touring across Europe along Mark Wonder, Earl 16, U- Brown, Suns of Dub and the Mad Professor Sound System.

In 2017 the band Black Lion was formed around Strawl so that his musical creations can be brought live on stage. Strawl Original (Curtis Arnaud) is a singer, songwriter and composer that is appreciated for his relentless energy on stage. This resulted in collaborations with artists varying from old school roots representatives as Sylford Walker and The Viceroys to more contemporary portrayers of reggae such as Kabaka Pyramid, Norris man, Junior Kelly and with musicians in other genres like King Koyeba.

So after the success in the past years with the singles Rasta Warrior and Judgement, Strawl is coming up with new releases (A Luta Continua) and a brand-new support act (Black Lion) that can transpire the vibes of music in an organic matter. This band consist of four professional musicians that have earned their stripes in the Roots Rock Reggae genre.
