Randy Freeman

“The only music I know, is the music from the soul.”

RANDY FREEMAN

If there is someone who knows how to speak the language of music, it’s Randy Freeman. Life has taken him on an amazing journey to become the man that he is today. The songwriter and reggae artist has stepped onto the scene to leave a meaningful mark not just in music, but upon the world.

Randy was born in Tortola BVI and then moved to Nevis while still in his childhood, and attributes being raised mostly by his aunts and great grandmother. Later, as a teenager, he moved to Puerto Rico for the remaining schooling years where he completed a college bachelor degree in Mathematics Educations at University of Puerto Rico.

For most of his life he was unconsciously influenced by the Caribbean and Virgin Islands’ rhythmic sounds as wherever he was there was always music playing. It was as if the stage was preparing him for something really special. Since his initial exposure to the afro-Caribbean beats, Randy immediately felt in love with the sounds of soca, calypso and reggae. From his childhood years he recalls listening to the deep drum and bass sounds coming from the village dance club, to where he occasionally sneaked out at night just to get a better feel of the instruments playing.

Music was a magnet for Randy, no question, wherever there was instruments playing there he was. Eventually he started to become more focused and mature in the arts. He had taught himself to play instruments and eventually got surrounded by mentors who guided him in the disciplines of music creation. Now a day, the reggae artist is fluent in playing guitar, bass and drums.

But that wasn’t enough; the urge to become something more kept calling. He began to hear melodies and lyrics in his mind, and couldn’t do anything else but embrace the path as a
songwriter. He composed his first song called ‘No Other God’ at the age of fifteen, and haven’t stopped ever since. As a mature artist, Randy became the lead singer of the Puerto Rican band Obedience where he rocked many stages and delivered a message of love, unity and spirituality. Today Mr. Freeman has taken a step forward in his carrier mastering his own unique sound ready to outbreak as a solo artist.

Even though it seems Randy is still warming up, he has gathered a great response with his first single ‘Say More’, and is now launching his second single ‘LOVE’ featuring Boris Bilbraut.

Living a life with purpose is what drives this songwriter/reggae artist to pursue his calling,
full of passion with a sincere attempt to communicate music that delivers a message deep
in the soul.
