Danzi

Salvador, Bahia – Brazil

Meet Danzi… Reggae Singer, Songwriter, Educator, Lyricist and Poet who writes militantly with harmony. The third daughter and youngest of the family, she was born and raised in Salvador, Bahia – Brazil. Danzi has been a lover of lyrics & melodies since she was very young. Today Danzi shows that her motive to trod a musical journey goes beyond the ‘simplistic’ idea of belonging to the artistic universe. Her mission is to raise the mind and soul, inspiring a new and at the same time old way of life that reestablishes the balance of truth and justice.

Danzi began writing songs shortly before the year 2009. In 2010, she performed her first rehearsal with some musicians oin the city. It was only in 2014 that she felt ready to share her music publicly. In that same year, she joined the members of her band, 100% Roots Reggae, ‘The Original’ Jahfreeka Soul.

Her music points to the need for a social, political and spiritual consciousness that contributes to the liberation, education, empowerment, elevation and self-knowledge of I & I, Woman-Man-Child, in Africa and in the Diaspora. Her debut release occurred on July 21, 2017 with the track ‘Negras Raízes’, which means ‘Black Roots’ in English. It is a true celebration of the conscience and the responsibility for an ancestry so acclaimed in the present times.

Her second official release is the single, ‘É tempo / The Time is Now’, in collaboration with the ‘Reggae Fan’ project. Her first album is scheduled to be released between the end of this year and next.
