It’s ‘I’fficial! IRIE is selling NFTs of its magazine covers published by ZOOLOOK as collectibles. As a result, IRIE fans will get a chance to own the digital imprint of some of our most iconic magazine covers.

So what exactly are NFTs? NFTs or Non-fungible tokens are unique digital assets that can not be copied or replaced. NFTs can be photos, videos, audio, and other types of digital files as unique items and use blockchain technology to give the NFT a public proof of ownership. You could say that NFTs are an extension of traditional investments made in other collectibles such as comic books, baseball cards, coins, stamps, etc.

IRIE’s inaugural cover featuring Third World was published on December 26, 2013, as Jamaica’s Reggae Ambassadors celebrated 40 years strong.

This IRIE NFT collection includes covers featuring original digital drawings of the featured artist from both World Reggae and Cali Reggae editions. Some of the artists featured on the covers include Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Raging Fyah, Nattali Rize, Luciano, Rebelution, and Etana, the Strong One, who recently secured a Grammy nomination for ‘Best Reggae Album.’

“For the past eight years, readers have come to love the covers of our publication,” IRIE Magazine founder and Editor-in-chief Nicholas Da Silva said. “Making digital versions of our covers available as one-of-a-kind digital non-fungible tokens is a golden opportunity for reggae fans to own a piece of IRIE history.”

IRIE Magazine will retain a 10% stake in the royalties generated by future secondary sales of the NFT.

The IRIE NFT collection will launch officially on December 1, 2021, at 4:20 pm PDT on Opensea.io.
