Bad Habits

“ChainSka is one of the most impressive and promising upcoming acts in the reggae ska genre that I have seen or heard in awhile. Refreshingly unique and our audience loved them as much as we did.”

CHAINSKA BRASSIKA

ChainSka Brassika is a nine piece, ska-fuelled, energetic reggae and dub band from South East London. Their lively old-school ska sound combines with the skank of today’s bass culture and commands any audience to get up and dance. With their large brass section they are similar to Fat Freddy’s Drop but with less emphasis on the dub and infinitely better to dance to.

They have opened for Madness, The Skatalites, The Abyssinians, Gentleman’s Dub Club and the Easy Star All-Stars to name a few and they’ve had knees flying at Glastonbury Festival, Boomtown Fair, Bestival, Notting Hill Carnival, One Love Festival, The Isle of Wight Festival and Secret Garden Party as well as having toured throughout Italy.

In 2013, they released their debut EP ‘Unwind’ championed by David Rodigan on his Radio 1Xtra show on which he played all of the 5 tracks on the EP and single ‘Summer Dubbin’ for 5 consecutive weeks, later including it on his ‘Best Of 2014’ and ‘Best of British’ shows, as well as in a guest spot on Annie Nightingale’s Radio 1 show in February 2015.

“This mischievous rabble of young lads from Lewisham is wreaking havoc across London with their lively new single ‘Bad Habits,’ saying “fuck cool, let’s laugh” in the timeless language of British Ska music, brought up to date by eight real musicians, real band, real brass section … fabulous and so refreshing!” – David Rodigan, BBC Radio 1Xtra

In April 2015 Chainska released ‘Bad Habits,’ the new single from their upcoming album, which they’re currently working on with Nick Manasseh at ‘The Yard’ under the Westway flyover.

ChainSka Brassika dazzle you with charm as they pick the pocket of your heart!
