Patois Brothers

The Patois Brothers are a band from Venice (Italy) formed in 2010. Their name is a tribute to the Jamaican language and in the same way that Patois originates from many different languages, their music is inspired by combining the many different sounds of Reggae to create own original sound. The Patois Brothers are Gioele Balliin – Voice/Guitar, Geremia Ballin – Voice/Saxophone, Fabio Salaroli – Bass, Francesco Checchin – Drums, Davide Eulogi – Guitar and Flavio Passion – Keyboards.

Following their 2015 debut single, ‘Politician’, the Patois Brothers first album ‘Mighty Ways’ made a big statement both lyrically and musically. The album expressed a strident call for social change and positive education through music, attracting the attention of both critics and the general public.

In a quest to find their original sound, the Patois Brothers journeyed to the UK where they met up with Grammy-nominated producer Daniel Boyle. No stranger to IRIE Magazine, Daniel Boyle has been featured multiple times in IRIE for his amazing work as mixing engineer and producer on Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry’s ‘Back On The Controls’ (2015), an album which garnered him a grammy nod, and Max Romeo’s ‘Horror Zone’ (2016).

Using Rolling Lion Studio’s analogue machines from the 1970s, the very same machines used by Jamaican legends to create Roots Rock Reggae, the results from their efforts is ‘Wise & Wild’, a wikkid new album consisting of 12 completely original tracks, including an important collaboration with the Jamaican legend Max Romeo who is a great source of inspiration for the band.

‘Wise & Wild’ is pure vintage reggae, an album full of respect, spirituality and wisdom. Every song demands a replay and that’s why IRIE has nothing but Maaaaad Love & Respect for the Patois Brothers! Big Up!
