Black Woman’s Glory
During a recent trip to Jamaica, Yves ‘Duke’ Ducrey met up with Kimmy Gold, a singer and keyboardist from St. Ann, the famous parish where Burning Spear, Bob Marley and Shabba Ranks were born. From that chance meeting, a realization was made… Kimmy’s melodies seemed to be a perfect fit for the riddims freshly composed by the Duke brothers. Everything then followed up nicely.
Yves decides to produce the first album for this golden voice female singer and organized a first session at the Mixing Lab Studio of Sly and Robbie. A second session took place at Flabba Holt studio.
The producer then proposed to Kimmy to come tour Switzerland with the project ‘Duke Live Dub’. They had the opportunity to open for Earl 16 at Undertown, Geneva and were selected for the Local World Award at 5 Continents Festival, Martigny. They also had time to finish this first album quietly in their studio.
