Kamaphew Tawa is the singer and songwriter of the band ‘Aspiral Reggae’ from Bahia. He began his music career in 1987. His discography is vast and he has a strong influence of Rastafari philosophy. In 1988, he recorded the first CD named ‘Fonte do Saber’.

In 2002, he participated in the compilation Reggae Roots Brasil. In 2003 he released the CD ‘Hailê Selassiê’.

In 2006, he recorded a live CD in Brasilia. In 2009, he contributed on the CD from a rap group named RBF and also contributed on another rap´s group cd named Nova Saga.

Kamaphew’s career in reggae has expanded for more than 30 years. He has performed in several events in Salvador such as: The block Aspiral do Reggae on Salvador’s Carnival; several shows in Pelourinho and exchange events between Bahia and Caribbean and the Marcha á Zumbi de Palmares.

He has also passed through some countrysides of Bahia including Feira de Santana, Porto Seguro and Aratuípe. He was also in other Brazilian states such as Brasília, São Paulo, Belém, São Luís, Sergipe and Natal.

During his musical career, he has shared the stage with great national and international Reggae and Rap artists such as: Karkule, Ras Ciro Lima, Jahcareggae, Tribo de Jah, Nação Regueira, Direto ao Ponto, MC Dexter, MC Makonnen Tafari, Congo Naya, Levitas, Jah Live, Rasta feeling, Simba Amilak, Tempo de Revolução and Shurwayne Wincherter.
