By The Rivers aren’t a band to be easily defined. Their eponymous debut album demonstrates influences of the melodies of Soul & Motown, the grooves from Funk & Afro-Beat, and the fun from Ska and Pop. A blazing brass section, which accents, stabs, and sways its way alongside the catchy vocals and laid-back melodies.
They have pieced together a style that is instantly recognizable. By The Rivers are a fun, clever, and melodic band that will draw you in from the first hook. Forming in Leicester in the Spring of 2010 by Nile Barrow and Jordan Birtles, By The Rivers have reintroduced the sounds of British Reggae with their energetic, positive sound, and storming live performances. Besides supporting The Specials in 10,000 capacity venues on their tour in 2011, By The Rivers have supported the likes of Madness, Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Taurus Riley, John Holt, The Selector, Maxi Priest, The Beat and Dawn Penn to name a few. Quickly surging forward and gaining a solid fan-base of their own, however, has allowed By The Rivers to begin touring the UK and Europe independently, with high demands across the continent. So it was only right after the successful release of 3 singles – ‘Take Control’, ‘One Word’ and ‘Don’t Say You Love Me‘ – that they should release their hotly anticipated album to fans so eager to hear
