Blindman

As a bandleader, frontman, songwriter, keyboardist, hype man, and percussionist, Blindman (AKA Derek Gazal) has shared the stage with an eclectic group of internationally acclaimed artists including Kanye West, The Roots, Julian Marley, Talib Kweli, Wyclef, Slightly Stoopid, Barrington Levy, Common, Jimmy Cliff, The Original Wailers, CeeLo, Robert Randolph, Fishbone, Madball, Napalm Death, VOD, Ludacris, and the Black Eyed Peas. He has been performing live music since the age of 16 and has performed everywhere from the garage to the main stage. Performing to a wide variety of audiences, Blindman has matured into a stand-out, must-see entertainer.

His innovative blend of music can be described as a simple and catchy fusion of jam-rock and reggae, with a hint of hip-hop, folk, jazz and blues. Blindman writes all of his songs with one clear message: “see with your heart.”

The Morristown, NJ reggae artist has a new video for the track ‘Lonely Road’ off the ‘See With Your Heart’ album. The ‘Lonely Road’ video was created by Blindman and Myke Rivera from Pinkbull Design Worldwide. The exquisitely animated clip features a boy and his lion cub friend journeying together through life as orphans. Blindman had consulted Rivera on the idea and they worked together for a few months coming up with the script for the video. They were familiar with each other from their days in the band ‘The Community’, which Rivera fronts and Blindman writes and performs with. After the script was drafted, Rivera moved from NJ to Florida. Months passed while Blindman finished the album See With Your Heart (which was released on 4/14/17) before the two met again in Florida to discuss Pinkbull Design Worldwide handling the album’s cover. During the meeting, Rivera mentioned that Pinkbull now had the ability to adapt the script into an animated clip and ‘Lonely Road’ is the astonishing result of their shared artistic journey.
