Reggae Is Love

Terra Prometida (Promised Land) was formed in 2001 in Brasilia under the name RastaFire. In 2006, the group decided to strengthen their Brasilian identity and changed their name to Terra Prometida. The group performed in major events and festivals, opening shows for renowned bands and artists such as Big Mountain (USA), The Gladiators (Jamaica), Andrew Tosh (Jamaica), Dezarie (Virgin Islands), MV Bill (RJ), Tom Zé, Blitz, In Jazz (France) and several others.

What makes Terra Prometida innovative and unique is their sound, a mix of different reggae styles fused with Brasilian roots; and their rotation of vocalist in the function of lead and backing vocals.

Terra Prometida collaborates and promotes social change in suburbs such as the projects Estação Central, Seeds of the Future, MUV, Energy and Joy, Semente Prometida, cultural events, Social Living Associations, Congo Nya Institute and others.

In 2009, Terra Prometida competed against 300 other bands at the Popular Music Festival Samambaia-DF and came away victorious, winning two major awards (Best Arrangement and 1st place overall) for their song, ‘Nos Dias de Hoje’.

In 2010 Terra Prometida band released their 1st album entitled ‘Nos Dias de Hoje’ (Now a Days), produced 100% Independently by Unidade 76 Records.

The album features 14 original songs, where the band explores some aspects of Reggae and also other music genres such as R&B and Hip Hop. Since its formation, Terra Prometida has performed at several important events:

• Tour Promised Seed 2007 Salvador-BA; 2010 Pirenópolis and Goiânia-GO; 2011 Cruzília-MG; 2011 Summer Exodus Northeast; 2012 Chapada dos and Goiânia-GO; 2014 Ribeirão Preto and São Paulo-SP
• Project Estação Central in the Central Station of the capital Brasilia in the Plano Piloto DF with FAC support. (Public turnover, about 200,000 people).
• Singles Releases in 2012: “Somos Livres” and “Tive Medo” with reputable International producers.
• Single Release in 2013 “O Amor Venceu” with producer UniRidd Project Florianópolis-SC.
• Video Release of “Nos Dias de Hoje” song shooted in the central station.
• Single release on 2014 “Reggae is Love” featuring the band Big Mountain (USA).
• Video release “Vaso de Barro” featuring local actors and Sol Nascente Capoeira group with production of El Padrino 061 Films and Unidade 76 Records.

For 2015, Terra Prometida is preparing to release its 2nd album titled ‘Está em Tudo’ (It’s in All) produced by Unidade 76 Records. The work brings all their experience over more than a decade of walk and includes collaborations with the best artists in world reggae like: Luciano (JAM), Big Mountain (interpreter of the great worldwide hit ‘Oh Baby I Love Your Way’ USA), Mark Wonder (JAM), Misael Gonzalez (Puerto Rico), Messenjah Selah (JAM), Zebulon Fyah (California/Bahia), Kiko Perez and Joao Ferreira (Natiruts band members), Ze Krishna (Arawaks band), Jorge Bittar (Surf Sessions band), Marcelo ‘Drumi’ (Brasucas band), Carlos Valentin and Thiago Alves JahBass (Yute Lions band).
