Afro D

Afro D was born Igor Diakonov in Moscow on February 1, 1987. He started his singing career in May 2008 as the frontman of Ja ba band. With his band, and sometimes alone with a selector, Afro D gave more than 100 performances in Moscow and other Russian cities including Saint Peterburg, Ekaterinburg, Omsk, Krasnoyarsk, Perm, Toliaty, Tver).

In 2009, Afro D took part in Bob Marley Birthday Fest in Moscow, performing on stage with Fitta Warri (Jamaica). He also performed in the 1st Russian Dancehall Queen Contest 2009, featuring Amzone and J Mix(France).

In February 2014, Afro D performed for the first time abroad with Jahneral Sound and Bass Sheriff Sound in Brno, Boskovice (Czech Republic) and Prague, where he shot the music video for the song ‘The Way of Righteousness’.

In May 2014, he performed for the first time at the Moscow Reggae Festival VI with The Dubsters (Russian reggae backing band). Some of Afro D’s tunes were played on Riddim Roots Radio (UK) where he was interviewed about reggae music in Russia alongside Farda Concious.

In August 2014, Afro D released the song ‘Never Get Dirty’ on Freedom Riddim VA complication (Zona Reggae Music, Romania). That same month, Afro D started his collaboration with Dubophonic Netlabel and The Dubsters organizing monthly music events entitled ‘Heavyweight Dub Party.’

His latest release, ‘Teach Dem Fi Survive’, is brand-new consciously-awareness track dedicated to all the youths who struggle to make it in life. The song was recorded by Yuri Markov on the ‘Celebrity Fever’, a dub-oriented Dub riddim produced by the french duo ‘Zion Dirty Sound’.
