Rastafari Rootzfest

Ganjamaica Cup 2017

The Rastafari Rootzfest, held annually in the world-famous resort town of Negril, Jamaica, has been described by many Jamaicans and other international cultural enthusiasts as “the ultimate Rastafari experience event which defines the celebration of life and all things good and natural which induces an enchanting fusion of mind, soul and body of the highest vibrations”. In short, the ‘Holy Grail’ or ‘Mecca’ of Rastafarian Livity and the Cannabis Lifestyle and all related facets, at its best on display.

Rastafari Rootzfest, more popularly dubbed by locals as ‘Ganja Fest’, is a 3 day comprehensive cultural experience, ecstatically filled to celebrate, educate and stimulate whilst simultaneously demystifying and dispelling the disillusions regarding the Rastafarian movement. The event is slated to take place December 15-17, 2017 beginning at noon each day at the pristine Long Bay Beach Park in Negril and coincides with the official start of the 2017 Winter Tourist season. It is expected to be a major attraction for visitors seeking temporary refuge from the harsh winter conditions of their respective countries of origin, as well as countless locals alike.

Rootzfest partner Oaksterdam University, a renowned, accredited marijuana institute based in the US, will be on hand to conduct educational seminars on the varying aspects of the Cannabis plant from seed germination to harvest, research, bi-products development, legalization and export for persons interested in the cannabis industry.

With the “marijuana awakening” now sweeping the international mainstream medical industry coupled with the relaxation of the Jamaican marijuana legislation as well as other parts of the world, the possibility of international trade is now being realized. As such, thousands of local and international seasoned and aspiring cannabis entrepreneurs, marijuana advocates, cultural tourists, health and wellness seekers and the curious at heart are expected to descend upon the shores of Long Bay Beach to capitalize on the potential business opportunities that have now become available within the cannabis industry.

Validated by countless research and controlled studies, cannabis is a safer, more potent alternative to many of the synthetic medications that are in existence today. Cannabis can be used to treat a host of medical conditions and mental disorders including Glaucoma, Cancer, HIV, Epilepsy, Depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Alzheimer’s, Autism and other physical ailments. As such, marijuana cultivation has become a multi-billion dollar industry spanning the globe. There are stringent international regulations that must be adhered to in order to engage in the cannabis trade. Learning about the current developments in scientific and technological advancements of the cannabis industry is vital to ensure one’s international competitiveness. The promoters, Rastafari In Inity, believe adamantly in the importance of this feature at this year’s Rootzfest since there are many Jamaican traditional grassroots ganja farmers who could benefit from these seminars to ensure they can engage viably in the emerging cannabis industry. Representatives from the Jamaican Business Development Sector will also be present offering their consulting services for anyone who desires sound business development advice.

These activities will run concurrent to the other facets of Rastafari Rootzfest such as the Yoga and Meditation booths for the persons seeking spiritual enlightenment and live demonstration on Ital (Vegan) cuisine, natural wines, roots beverages and other organic products. Crafts, jewels, and wears will also be on display for sale.

The highly anticipated Ganjamaica Cup ceremony will present awards to top growers and producers of the best tested marijuana and it’s bi-products in varying categories of exclusively Jamaican ganja strains judged by local and international experts. These activities will be harmonized by the sounds of authentic roots rock reggae as the event boasts 3 nights of live reggae music performed by top international reggae acts including Capleton, Jah Mason, Kabaka Pyramid, Bushman, Iba Mahr, Leroy Sibbles and more. Nyahbinghi drumming and chanting will fill the air by the shores of the famous seven mile beach strip throughout the festival. The organizers of Rastafari Rootzfest look forward to the many local and international visitors who descend upon Negril’s shores to experience this event each year and as such will have special packages available to include accommodations and event fees for activities as well as seminars and expos.
