You Got Me Going On

Deleon ‘Jubba’ White, aka Jubba, is a household name in the reggae industry.

He has recorded and toured with legends such as Burning Spear, Toots and the Maytals, Max Romeo, U-Roy, Marcia Griffiths, The Mighty Diamonds and several other pioneers.

He has also collaborated with younger luminaries such as Capleton, Junior Kelly, Richie Spice, Lutan Fyah, Bushman, Protoje, Jesse Royal and many others.

Jubba and bassist Strickland Stone came together to form the dynamic drum and bass duo, Often compared to Sly & Robbie, Jubba & Stone has been featured on several hit compositions and albums worldwide.

Recognition for some of the accomplishments of Jubba’s musical career include: Global Battle of the Bands World Champions ‘Best New Band in the World’ (2010 – 2011), Congressional Proclamation from Congresswoman, Yvette Clarke (Brooklyn, NY – 2011), Simba Award from CPR (Coalition to Preserve Reggae Music – 2011), The Jamaica Star People’s Choice Award ‘Band of the Year’ (2012), Curator and Producer of Bands Incorporated – Annually, and Co Curator and Producer of Plug N’ Play (Weekly). Bands Incorporated was an annual event that featured self-contained bands, while Plug N’ Play was a weekly event for all types of performing artists.

Both events played an integral role in the development of upcoming artists and musicians from Jamaica over the past decade. The focus of these events was to promote collaboration between younger artists and top-tier, internationally recognized artists. Participants included Damian Marley, Toots and the Maytals, Marcia Griffiths of Bob Marley & The Wailers, I Three’s, Chronixx, Protoje, the popular French band Dub Incorporation, Polish reggae pop star Kamil Bednarek and many others.

Jubba, an Edna Manley College of the Performing Arts Alumni, wanted more artists to profit from his tremendous musical creativity. Thus, he founded his own production company White Stone Productions in 2011. Carefully handcrafted reggae music with an international appeal and strictly conscious, uplifting message continues to be the inspiration of his business.

Jubba White’s latest release is the official video for ‘You Got Me Going On’.

In his own words: “This is the second of the few love songs I wrote but certainly my favorite of them all. That’s the reason I attempted to sing this one myself. Originally written in 2006 with someone else in mind as the singer, (as I did with a few other songs) but 10 years later, (2016) I recorded the vocals, released it in 2017 and in May 2018, the official video is released. Let’s celebrate LOVE!”
