Caz Gardiner & The Badasonics

United States / Belgium

Caz Gardiner & the Badasonics supply a pulsating, soul-study, funky, rockin’ beat in a Jamaican style via Belgium and Washington, DC. The band formed through a melding of ‘the busiest backing band’ on the European ska & reggae scene, The Caroloregians, and one of the best live bands in Europe, The Moon Invaders, along with the addition of the rocking soulful reggae voice of Caz Gardiner from the U.S. This musical venture is the converging of paths that crossed over decades and around the globe: Brussels, New York, Paris, Kingston JA, and Washington DC. Veteran ska musicians that have toured together in a variety of line-ups for decades and regulars at the Pum Pum Hotel, the beloved 100% analogic recording studio in Charleroi, Belgium that is a home away from home of worldwide dedicated practitioners of funky music, Rolf Langsjoen (trumpet), David Loos (saxophone), Michael De Schrijver (organ), Michael Bridoux (guitar), Jean Debry (bass) and Nico Leonard (drums) are The Badasonics.

The Badasonics mixes soul and funk together with Jamaican riddims and horns with the soulful rock and reggae voice of Caz Gardiner to deliver a pulsating party of soul steady beats. Band members’ experiences playing with various Jamaican artists like Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Ken Boothe, Alton Ellis, Doreen Shaffer, Rico Rodriguez, The Pioneers, Dave & Ansel Collins, Pat Kelly to name but a few and Caz’s ska chops that can be described to be like The Meters meet The Upsetters or Lyn Collins goes to Kingston.

Caz Gardiner & the Badasonics is just about to release a 45 of their first session in the analog Pum Pum Hotel recording studio. The band will be back in the studio spring 2017 to record their first LP. Tour dates to follow.
