The long awaited new Black Uhuru album ‘As The World Turns’ is finally to be released to the reggae public. This is the group’s first new album in over 15 years! It features Duckie Simpson on lead for all 15 tracks. Half of the album was recorded in California & the rest was finished in Jamaica. Most of the production was done by well-known Jamaican keyboard player Horace ‘King Hopeton’ Campbell at his Double Lion Studio in Northern California who also tours with the band. Legendary guitarist Leebert ‘Gibby’ Morrison’s studio in Kingston was used to overdub & put on the harmony vocals by Nicole “Nikki” Burt. Most of the songs are brand new unreleased tracks.
One single was released ‘Jah Guide’ a Peter Tosh tribute that featured Bugle followed by a music video shot at Cane River in St. Thomas Jamaica directed by Damaniac Visualz. Two other music videos were made for ‘Chalice’ & ‘War Crime’ along with a promo video for the album’s title track filmed by Benji Cooper. Popular dancehall artist Agent Sasco is featured on ‘Stronger’ & the last song on the album ‘Live & Learn’ is a bonus track that features roots artist Prezident Brown.
The album was mixed by Jermaine Forde son of Aswad’s Brinsley Forde & Jay Edge Williams at Ajang Studio & the album was mastered at Anchor Recording Studio both in Kingston Jamaica. Black Uhuru Official agent Mike Gener along with Derrick Simpson are the Executive Producers for the album.
The band begins there New Album US Tour mid-August until the end of September. After plans of a limited edition vinyl release along with a dub album are in the works.
