Nex Chapta

Nex Chapta’s ‘Feel Good’ is the fourth studio recording released by the band. This smooth reggae song takes the listener on a musical pilgrimage of re-connection with consciousness, love, happiness and positive vibrations. The track begins with a light flute, floating gracefully on a rooted rhythm guitar and conga drum that lays the perfect foundation for positive vibes. A crafty percussion line and playful lead guitar then follow, leading listeners swiftly into nostalgia. Soon the simple but thought-provoking lyrics of this piece seem to reside in the mind and become reminiscent of home. Finally, cue the triumphant brass instruments to bring it all home and leaves listeners humming a piece that now represents their definition of happiness. A song that helps them remember just what it means to feel good.

Fashioned by consciousness, Nex Chapta is rooted in the twin-island country of Trinidad and Tobago and born of the connection between husband and wife duo John G and Jacqui G (vocals), brother Kwami Morrison (guitar) and friend Mikhel Carter (percussion). Inspired by the grassroots music of Bob Marley, these four souls deliver a full-blooded sound through their performances infused with Caribbean guitar and African drum patterns. Nex Chapta symbolizes progressive change. Their style – Soul on Roots Reggae. Their message – love, awareness and the active pursuit of good vibrations.

Their journey began in 2016 to create positive music and move hearts and souls through a message of love and awareness. Since then, these kindred spirits have birthed singles like ‘Good Morning Rasta’, ‘Zion’ and ‘Living the Dream’. They opened for reggae/dancehall headliners like Tanya Stephens, Tarrus Riley, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer and Chronixx, delivering live performances that elevated consciousness. The next step in their musical pilgrimage is to complete a collection of songs on the human condition. This collection will be done in Nex Chapta’s unique and rootsy style and showcase a spirit of Reggae that can only originate from the cultural melting pot that is Trinidad and Tobago.

There’s something about Nex Chapta that is indescribably different — and with their newest project, they’ve discovered what most musicians spend lifetimes working for — the place where feel-good music meets vital conscious action.
