G-INA
Our Matterhorn feat. Sly Dunbar and Oli Hartung
Renowned bassist, composer, and producer G-INA is thrilled to announce the release of her latest single, “OUR MATTERHORN,” in collaboration with legendary drummer Sly Dunbar.
“OUR MATTERHORN” is a testament to G-INA’s musical versatility and cultural exploration. Her bass style, incorporating slaps and blues chords, creates a sonic landscape that bridges continents and celebrates diverse musical traditions. Sly Dunbar’s dynamic drumming adds depth and a fresh perspective to the track, infusing influences from the Jamaican tribe Junkunnu.
One of the defining features of “OUR MATTERHORN” is G-INA’s versatile, expressive vocals presented in the original Swiss mountain dialect known as “Wallissertitsch.” This linguistic homage adds a layer of authenticity and cultural depth to the music, reflecting G-INA’s deep connection to her Swiss mountain roots.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, G-INA shares:
“OUR MATTERHORN is a musical journey that celebrates diversity, embraces cultural heritage, and creates music that transcends boundaries.
A special thanks also go to the talented guitarist Oli Hartung, a lifelong friend from Wallis since childhood, who can be heard on nearly all recordings. His outstanding guitar playing always adds a special touch to the music.” – G-INA
About G-INA
Gabriella grew up in a small village in the Swiss mountains in a family where music played a significant role. She studied classical violin and played in a youth orchestra. After mandatory school, she moved to London and New York to study performing Arts, specifically dance. Due to an injury, she was forced to stop physical activity and started rapping and playing bass in a local crossover hip-hop band. Later, she visited Jamaica, fell in love with the island, the music, and its people, and moved there to live. Four years later, she returned to Switzerland, resumed her dancing career, and studied finance and accountancy.
Gabriella was a member of a London-based contemporary dance company. She discovered and trained in aerial pole dancing. She eventually founded Pole Positions CH, Switzerland’s first pole dancing school. She also judged several pole dancing championships and founded her international championship in Switzerland (Aerial Pole International). Despite a car accident in December 2018 that led to serious injuries, music destiny struck again. She started recording her own compositions at home. Five months later, she founded G-INA (the band) and started performing her songs live.
G-INA is a band that blends genres like rock, hip-hop, funk, and crossover, focusing on guitar-driven music. It operates autonomously and independently from commercial labels, recording and publishing its music on its own.
In December 2021, Gabriella moved to Jamaica permanently to dedicate herself to music and dance.
“There is a deep relaxation on the island that is unique and a vibe I have never felt before in a country. I just love the energy!” – G-INA
Gabriella is gearing up for an exhilarating European Tour in the summer of 2025, infusing reggae vibes with a mix of eclectic genres, promising a dynamic and unforgettable music journey.
