Shane Marler

United States

Shane Marler was born in Winfield, Kansas, which just happens to be the home of the Walnut Valley National Flatpicking Championship.

As a guitar player and singer-songwriter, Shane Marler’s musical dexterity is striking considering the source location. His love of roots reggae and ska shine through on his latest effort ‘One Stop’. Track to track will find listeners bouncing and shaking to his original ska grooves straight from the heart of America.

Shane started playing guitar at 16 and started gigging at 18. He spent the first 10 years touring with local Ska band O’Phil. They played in every dive bar from here to Shinola. After leaving the band, he began studying gypsy jazz.

He eventually travelled to the Django Reinhardt festival in Samois-sur-Seine, France from 2006-2009. In 2014, Shane began trying to write lyrics. He joined a band called the ‘Mischief Makers’ and has been steadily playing with them ever since.

It’s safe to say that Shane Marler literally loves all kinds of music. From rock to jazz, blues to pop, he always finds something he likes.
