ComiXstand was originally an underground comic book site founded by Nico through his ad agency / publishing house, ZOOLOOK, back in 2006. At the time, Nico was experimenting with comics, attempting to apply motion to the story experience. As one of the pioneers of Flash animation, Nico found a new toy in After Effects. Applying the software together, he was able to merge comic book panels and sound to his series to create an immersive experience.

In 2007, he released his spy-thriller series, HITLESS™, in digital format including the Apple iPod and the Sony PSP. The release of HITLESS™ episode #1 garnered him numerous awards such as the Adobe Site of the Day and the FWA Award. He also received numerous magazine features from the design community including appearances in Web Designer Magazine, Computer Arts, PS Next and .Net.

In 2008, Nico was selected by Adobe to be 1 of 100 designers out of 6 million to be given the title, ‘The Chosen One’. He also made Web Designer’s HOT 100 list 4 consecutive years (2008-2011), including claiming 3 spots in the 2008 edition of Web Designer Magazine.

Dread & Alive: Nine Night™

In Dread & Alive: Nine Night, ComiXstand is the neighborhood comic book shop own and operated by characters Nico and Roxanne (IRIE’s Nico and Michelle). As purveyors of diverse comic books and graphic novels, they provide a place for the locals to get their comic book fix including Drew McIntosh.

ComiXstand will become an important location in Dread & Alive: Nine Night; a place of refuge against the dark forces of Babylon.
